Established in 1990, ASC has provided professional information security services to many of the leading financial, manufacturing and health care corporations within North America and Asia.
We maintain staff and skills within all aspects of information security with an emphasis upon management, policy, procedures, contingency planning, cyber forensics and network security; especially those portions exposed to the perils of the Internet. In addition, we maintain a blog relating to Information Security at blog.e-computer-security.info and a security awareness site at thinksecurityfirst.org.
Our experience within these sectors includes:
Management, policy and procedures – Large government agencies, health care and significant financial industry corporations in addition to some manufacturers. We encourage our clients to move down the path towards have a set of policies with supporting management practices as well as standards and procedures that conform to ISO/IEC 17799. The ISO model works within all environments and prepares a business to move into areas of the world that mandate ISO compliance.
Contingency Planning – Ensuring that an enterprise can endure the trials of today's troubled world is challenging; especially within the information technology environment. Whatever you choose to call the process of ensuring that business can be resumed following an unplanned event, whatever the degree, it boils down to contingency planning.
Cyber Forensics – Often referred to as computer forensics, it is the application of scientifically proven methods to gather, process, interpret, and to use digital evidence to provide a conclusive description of cyber crime activities. Cyber forensics includes the act of making digital data suitable for inclusion into a criminal investigation as well as to reconstruct specific computer configurations for the purposes of proving its capabilities. Typically the target is a home computer, laptop, server, or office workstation – to determine if the equipment has been used for illegal, unauthorized, or unusual activities. It can also include monitoring a network for the same purpose. ASC has experience conducting investigations within all of these aspects of cyber forensics.
Network Security – Developing and maintaining an effective network security program, both internal and the web facing environment is extremely challenging. The profile constantly changes resulting in new vulnerabilities as do the threats from malware and those that wish to compromise your network for their own nefarious gain. The tools employed by ASC include those commonly used by intruders are well as more sophisticated assessment tools that are designed to identify all possible points of weakness.

Gerson Lehrman Group – The Architecture of Collaboration.
The Importance of Specialized Expertise
Access to specialized expertise drives superior decisions in every organizational context: within corporations, by investors, within government, and within not-for-profit organizations. When business leaders are confident of their decision inputs, they can respond more quickly to challenges and more creatively to opportunities.
The Value of Expert Teams
A diversity of expert opinions is exponentially better than one. A team of qualified experts, with each member providing an independent perspective, will produce more accurate and complete results. This methodology generates 'leapfrog' insights, recognition of under-appreciated risks, and drives decision-makers to higher levels of insight.
The Context of Collaboration
The value of tapping specialized expertise should be tempered by an awareness of its limitations. The notion of entirely unencumbered collaborations may be attractive, but any valuable knowledge-provider will have important obligations that shape, constrain and often prohibit a particular knowledge exchange. All sides of every interaction must accept, enforce and become active advocates for the long-term benefits of these restrictions.
The Centrality of Technology
Systems such as Gerson Lehrman Group's Knowledge Logistics Platform (KLP) enable both the benefits of collaboration and a heightened awareness of its context. By efficiently connecting teams of experts with leaders in industry, funding institutions, and government, decision-making is improved and accelerated. Through a comprehensive framework of contracts, reminders, screening and vetting processes, tracking tools, and incentives, the KLP drives and encourages behavior that supports these important collaborations.
ASC supports Gerson Lehrman in the delivery of services to its clients.
